I'm done playing Final Fantasy XIV.I can't play it anymore. I've had a love/hate relationship with this game for years.I've done what I wanted to do. I experienced the story, completed countless side quests, leveled every Job to 100, soloed bosses and dungeons, and squeezed just about everything I cared to out of it.I've spent around ten years of my life in Eorzea.In those ten years, I made some incredible friends.In those ten years, I lost some incredible friends.The same argument always seemed to come back around. That I'm a wall to argue with. That I won't just nod along because everyone else believes something. I don't do groupthink. I don't pick sides because they're popular. If I think emotions have taken over the conversation, I'll say so.I go my own way.It's a lonely path.I hate that.

At the end of the day, my heart simply can't take losing people I genuinely care about over bullshit that won't matter a year from now, let alone a lifetime.And after doing everything I actually cared about in this game... I don't even care how the story ends anymore. I already called where it was going back in the ARR days.People always ask, "How can you judge it if you haven't experienced it?" Then you experience it, and you still don't like it. You're told you just don't understand it.I've lived that conversation too many times.If there's one thing I'll miss, it's being a Mentor. Not the crown, but the people.. The people you meet.I took my time with sprouts. I explained mechanics instead of flaming them. I encouraged them when they thought they were terrible. Sometimes I'd drag them into something ridiculous—like duoing a dungeon—just to prove they were capable of more than they thought. Watching someone go from "I can't do this" to "Holy shit, I actually did it," was worth more to me than any mount, title, or raid clear.That's what I'll remember.The part I won't miss is watching the game slowly bend over backwards to satisfy people obsessed with parsing every percentage point of damage, chasing metas, perfect materia, perfect rotations, perfect everything.I'm not a raider.
I never wanted to be.I just wanted a fun MMORPG to lose myself in, and meet people I'd have lifelong friendships and experiences with.Maybe that's asking too much these days.If, by some strange twist of fate, you actually came looking for me...You'll probably find me wandering the stars in Star Trek Online instead.I don't expect anyone will.But if you do...Thanks for all the Adventures.— So long, and thanks for all the fish.

Macros in FFXIV is a most excellent way to create quick messages or automate certain functions or just to goof off with whatever crazy idea you may have. Certainly some of these macros can be achieved just as easy or better using mods but XIV's relationship with mods is a dubious one, as modding and game modification is illegal in Japan, Square and Yoshi has taken the approach of "Mod Responsibly" with an air that can be described similarly to US Military in the 90's regarding homosexuality i.e. "Don't tell if you are."So it's your choice if you want to use mods or not in you FFXIV experience.
Just don't be an ass to those who do if you do not, or if you do but others do not.Live and let live.Whatever let's get going with this.

These four Macros manipulate the various audio settings in FFXIV and I've found great use for them.For example, if I'm sick of the music then I'll just type "/bgm" and it turns the music off.If I'm about to do battle against someone whose music I adore, I'll press my "Music & Voice 100%" macro button. This will reduce all other sounds to extremely low numbers while maximizing music and voices.And Normalize does exactly what it does. Setting all audio settings to what I perceive as an estimation of normal audio levels.

These manipulate what special effects will be shown during combat. FFXIV is a very intensely visual game with loads of special effects. For example, the PvP Battle SFX Spec is designed to turn everyone's effects off EXCEPT for yourself. If you don't do this, you're practically blind with every special effect going off the field. And sometimes I'm just too tired of looking at everything.The command "/echo message" is a special command that displays a string of text ONLY for yourself.
No one else can read it. Use this in your macros for when you need to give yourself a heads' up.The macros Overhead Camera, Normalize Camera and Down to Earth Camera all changes the axis for how the camera follows your character. There's a mod that automates this process much easier but before I used that mod, this was the three macros I used to control my camera depending on circumstance.

The command "/macroicon "Example" " changes the icon of the macro to the one you specified. It's intensely useful when it comes to these specifically. These are all Summoner-based Macros. A side quest in Limsa Lominsa allows you to learn how to glamour Carbuncle to look like one of the three summon-egi's you've acquired.Back in ARR days when Arcanist, Summoner & Scholar was a dedicated Pet & DoT job, each -egi had their own set of stats and purpose. Ifrit was Melee DPS, Titan was the Tank and Garuda was the Caster DPS. When they removed this in the great cataclysmic Summoner ruination patch, they gave us the ability to learn egi-glam for Carbuncle./egiglamour Carbuncle Ifrit-Egi - command target subject. Basically./ac - Action, in this case "Summon Carbuncle"/s - Say, a text in /say. If you want, you may change this to /shout /yell /party etc.

These set of macros I made because crafting 200 High Quality juicy pieces of tasty GIRD YOUR TASTEBUDS takes a really long time, and doing it all manually drives you crazy. This will still drive you crazy, but it'll be less bothersome sinec now you press Macro 1, when that's done you press Macro 2, and when that's done you press macro 3. Then you rinse and repeat. For future proofing this, you may need to edit some lines depending on what they remove and what they keep in.This requires you to have a Lv 90+ Crafter job and at least Scrips-Gear.And finally, let's end on a funny one that always got a laugh out of strangers as well as panic.

This was mainly an idea I had for TTRPG in my own arrogant way of saying "I could had made FFXIV better if it started like this."Either way, this image was based on my screenshot from when I did a side quest where you end up saving Crystarium. You are shown this child as a direct influence of your actions. "Because of you, this child lives."Using one of those animation tools, I made Talamh hold the baby.
